Story Updates

March 2005:

California Half Ironman San Diego:

We kicked off the season with a very wet Half Ironman in Oceanside California. The course was challenging and it pretty much kicked my butt. I had the worst race so far but its days like that when you find out why you do this sport. To give and idea of the conditions the race took me a little over 7hr which is about 1 hr longer than normal. I spent about 5.5hrs under water and the swim only took 45minutes.

It looks like the leg problems that started in the SF half came back to bite me for Ralphs. The bike was bad coming in 20min slower than planned and the run was absolutely disastrous almost 45 minutes slower than anticipated. The run which is usually my stronger event ender up being my worst event for this Tri. I hope to have the run/leg issues resolved for 2005 Wildflower long course in May but we will have to wait and see.

Feb 2005:

San Francisco half marathon 1:50mins .

SF half went relatively well for the first 8miles. I was on pace for a 1:44 finish until I ran into some leg problems which resulted in a slower pace for the last 5miles.  The result was still relatively good and it indicates that the early training is on track for a strong 2005 season.

September 2004:

Big Kahuna Half Ironman: I completed my first every half Ironman (Big Kahuna) in a time of 6:08 which was a little slower than I wanted but I was happy with the overall result. The race has just increased my belief that endurance training as  whole is the best thing I can do to help prevent another Ms attack and as such I am stepping up to the 2005 season. The plan is to compete in 4 half Ironmans and 2 Olympic distance races as well as the usual Seattle to Portland 200mile bike ride and the Providian Relay  200 mile relay run from Napa to Santa Cruz.

August 2004:

TRI4MS team participates in our first Half Ironman Relay. With a time of 5:45:08 resulting in an over all place of 16th  and age group place of 11th with 50 teams participating TRI4MS is off to a great start.   We are on course to have 20 rides at Waves to Wine 2004. Our first official Triathlon will be the 2004  Treasure Island International Tri where we will have team members participating in the Relay, the sprint distance and the International distance.
